Top 10 Most Valuable Indian Coins

Indian coins have big history with them. early well known coins are introduced by British presidency in Indiathe first set of republic India coins were issued in 1950. there many coins in 20th century which are very rare and we desperately want to collect, even some of you might be having it. lots of commemorative and definitive coins issued by Indian government in recent time. but there are some very latest coins After 1990 which are more valuable than old coin and must have in your collection.
here is my list below for Top 10 must have coins of 21st century.

10. 5 Rupee Coin 1996 2nd International Crop Science First Issue

The reverse of this coin shows the globe with crop all over it, flanked by “two sprigs of wheat” on the bottom and a “double helix structure of DNA inside the gene” on the top. The inscription “Dwitiya Antarashtriya Fashal Vigyan Congress” in Hindi is shown at the left half and “2ND INTERNATIONAL CROP SCIENCE CONGRESS” in English is shown at the right half of the periphery. “1996” – the year of issue is shown at the bottom
9. Year 2010 1000 rupees Silver coin

This is the first time in Indian coin History that government issued a coin of Rupees 1000. This coin is issued to commemorate 1000 years of "Brihadeeswar Temple" Tanjore. though coinage of this coin is large, this coin still has its value. as we seen in past 1000 rupees note of same coin i.e tanjore temple has big value in the market. currently market of this coin is very low but there is definitely a big value coming for this coin in some years.
The coin, weighing 35 gm, has 80 per cent silver and 20 per cent copper. On the obverse side, the coin bears the emblem of the Lion Pillar with the words ‘Satyameva Jayate’ in Hindi below it.The name of the country and denomination are spell out in Hindi and English. On the reverse side, Raja Raja Chola-1 figure in a standing posture with folded hands with a figure of the temple and the words depicting the 1,000 years of the temple written in Hindi and English and the place and the year (2010) can be seen.

8  Year 2004 1 Rupees Cross Symbol Coin

You wont believe but this is also the rare coin from Mumbai mint. there is only one packet of this coin is opened and that is of 100 coins.the value of such an item could possibly be in the times to come. Must Must have in collection.

7  Year 1996 2 Rupees Subhash Chandra Bose coin

The above mentioned coin is one of the rarest coin issued by Kolkata mint. you will wonder why 1996 subhash chabdra bose kolkata mint 2 rupees coin is that much rare and expensive? the reason is in 1996 they issued this coin as subhash chandra bose centenary coin, but Netaji subhash chardra bose was born in 1897. Kolkata mint mistakenly issued this coin one year earlier. later in 1997 they issued the same coin. so this is also a must have in collection coin.

6  Year 2005 5 Rupees 75 Years of Dandi March CU-Nickel Version

Coin was released on the occasion of 75 years of the Dandi march, which was undertaken by Mahatma Gandhi on the issue of the government imposing taxes on the salt. the british government had forbidden Indians from making their own salt, and they were made to pay heavy taxes for salt.

So to protest, Gandhiji started walking towards Dandi, a place in Gujarat, to make his own salt. Thousands of Indians joined him on the way, and they broke the salt law along with Gandhiji. This event got to be known as the Dandi march and was one of the turning points in India's struggle for independence.
The 5 rupee of Dandi march in copper- nickel is a rare coin and is currently valued at above 1000rs. Its value would have gone really high if it was not released as part of some UNC sets. Many people broke the sets to sell this loose 5rs, and now the sets have also become rarer.

5 year 2007 5 rupees "Bal Gangadhar Tilakji" coin

This coin is issued in 2007 to commemorate 150 years of Bal Gangadhar Tilak. however at time of minting they mentioned the name Bal Gangadhar Tilakji. you will wonder whats the matter with that?
the reason behind this coins rarity is the word "JI" Behind Tilak. someone spotted this and said that this is a major error in this coin. even Gandhi is written with "ji" on any notes.  there are big controversy behind this whether this is an error coin or not. as far as my personal views its not an error because "ji " is an honorific so how can it be error? if you are not writing "ji" behind Gandhi then this is the biggest mistake that Indian government mint did.
if you want to get this coin then search for 2007 5 rupees copper-nickel tilakji coin.

4 year 2007 5 rupees Cross Symbol Coin

This one is definitely one of the rarest coins of recent times. There have been many rare 5 rupee coins in the last 10 years and this one is definitely on top of the wish list of most collectors, and many beginners are not even aware of this one existing. Even I got to know of this only 3-4 months back. The reason: this is a controversial coin that was banned by the government of India following the controversy surrounding coins of 1 rupee and 2 rupee coins with similar symbols on them. As this was banned, it never came into circulation unlike the 2 rupee and the 1 rupee coins. The 1 rupee cross coin was also controversial and was withdrawn from circulation , but at least it did come into circulation. Even the dealers couldn't get hold of more than 1-2 packets of this one. And what they had was sold out in olympic record time. So , now its not even available anywhere and its price has already gone through the roof.

3  2 Rupees 150 years of telecommunication

elecomunication in general refers to communication over a distance. Now obviously the communication process has changed significantly over the years since its introduction in India about 150 years ago.

The postal and telecom sectors had a slow and fidgety start in India. In 1850, the first experimental electric telegraph Line was started between Kolkata and Diamond Harbor it was opened for the British East India Company one year later. Post or telepgraph was not given much importance at that stage. Construction of telegraph lines connecting Kolkata (Calcutta) and Peshawar in the north along with Agra, Mumbai (Bombay) through Sindwa Ghats, and Chennai in the south, as well as Ootacamund and Bangalore was started in November 1853. Dr. William O'Shaughnessy worked towards the development of telecom throughout this period. Telegraph facilities were opened to the public in 1854.

In 1881, a licence was granted to the Oriental Telephone Company Limited of England for opening telephone exchanges at Calcutta, Bombay, Madras and Ahmedabad and the first formal telephone service was established in the country. On 28 January 1882, Major E. Baring, Member of the Governor General of India's Council declared open the Telephone Exchanges in Calcutta, Bombay and Madras. The exchange in Calcutta named "Central Exchange" was opened at third floor of the building at 7, Council House Street.A telephone exchange was also opened in Bombay in 1882.

Needless to say, the telecommunication system has gone a sea change since its inception way back in 1850. Now in major cities the number of cellular phones outstrips the number of landlines. Kids who have mobile phones may not understand that there was a time not too long back when having a single landline in a household was a rarity.
Definitly This is Must Have Coin In Collection.

2 Year 2004, 2 rupees National Integration

The 2 rupee was minted in the shown design until 2004, when because of rise in the metal prices, the mintage of this 2 rupee coin was stopped and the new 2 rupee coin with the cross design was started to be minted. Also, a majority of the shown 2 rupee coins of 2004 were melted back into the base metal because of the higher metal base values. This makes the 2004 2 rupee coin a rare one.

1 Year 1996, 5 Rupees International Crop Science Conference

This coin is originally issued in 1996 when international crop science is to be held. for that large amount of coins minted but for some reason conference is canceled and minting for this coins is stopped. so only 11000 coins minted in between, and this is the main reason for scarcity of this coin. Less mintage is the main reason for any coin for its rarity. This is definitely one of the rare coins of republic India. Though after wards, the Calcutta mint released a two coin set having two such coins. So these are now not as rare as they originally were, but it is still rare enough to catch the fancy of numismatists. The design on the obverse is the globe with crops all over it
